Newsweek Magazine calls Tinley Park "The best place in America to raise a family. We can see why, because we've fallen in love with the place. The convention center is on one side of I-80, and on the other is a shopping center, an amusement arcade, then miles of peaceful farmland. It's missing the hustle of Chicago... but you can have that too.
All of Chicago at Your Feet
Tinley Park Convention Center is located a short distance from
Metra's
80th Avenue train station which is part of the "Rock Island" Line. Via
Metra, downtown Chicago is less than an hour
away and the cost is minimal. Whether for theater, dining, shopping,
museums or sports, Metra offers an attractive alternative to driving.
Want to go to a White Sox game? The Sox play the Orioles on
Friday and Saturday this year, and Metra's new "Lou Jones" station gives
you nearly door-to-door service to U.S. Cellular Field. Our contact at
Metra prepared a great flyer with
train information, including the full
schedule between 80th Avenue and downtown Chicago.

Bacino's Pizza
Real Chicago deep dish pizza. The
West loop location is just a couple blocks from Union station in
Chicago, but the Wacker Dr location is elegant and occasionally
features live music.
Portillo's
Great family food - fast. Try sitting at
the table with the real 1930's automobile suspended over your head.
Chinatown
As a martial arts instructor, I've picked up many of my office decorations in Chicago's Chinatown. If you are adventurous, stop into any of the numerous restaurants for
dim sum. The food is very authentic, with most dishes containing chicken feet or tripe.
Field Museum & Shedd Aquarium
Two of Chicago's finest educational attractions. Sue the T-Rex "lives" at the Field, and the Aquarium is awesome. "Jellies" is the current feature exhibit -
I've been stung by one of those before! Ouch.
Odyssey Fun World
OK, honestly, I'm a little too big for this place now. But I worked
my way through college as the electronic tech for an amusement park.
Odyssey is just across the freeway from the convention center, and
if you're bringing the kids with you, here's some fun for them.
Orland Square Mall
A huge, upscale shopping destination. If you can't find it here, you
probably won't find it anywhere.
The Tinley Park Metra Station is a destination in itself, it's part of the historic downtown area. The hotel offers guests shuttle transportation to & from the station, call the hotel for details.
