Intro to Screen Printing

     Audience: Screen Printers

Are you looking to start a screen printing shop, or to add screen printing to your existing business? Perhaps you're already printing garments, but you are looking to refine a number of details, or wondering if there is a better way to do the things you "figured out" for yourself? This is the seminar for you! Screen printing can be a great way to generate a lot of extra cash flow, but without the proper skills, it can be a fast way to ruin a lot of shirts and alienate your best customers. Get the skills you need to print like a pro from the best instructor in the business at this half-day workshop.

You'll learn to judge what to look for in artwork, and what constitutes viable art. You will also learn about making screens, and how to avoid the numerous pitfalls that result in bad screens. You'll participate in setting up a press, and learn how to register multiple color work. Once the press is ready, you will print a multiple-color job. Afterwards, you'll learn tips & tricks to speed cleaning up screens and you'll learn about proper reclaiming techniques so your screens are ready to go again.

A press, Ink, and a flash-dryer will be set up in the seminar room for you to experience printing first-hand. Other hands-on opportunities will be presented as you take your first steps toward becoming a commercial screen printer.

This is a special extended-length, hands-on seminar, and is limited to 25 persons. (Admission to this seminar is not included in the "full workshop ticket.") You'll receive instruction, a wealth of information, and a certificate of completion when you finish. All needed equipment, shirts and materials are provided. Intro to Digitizing

   Audience: Embroiderers

You've got an embroidery machine, and you know how to embroider. You've got digitizing equipment, you went through the factory training as to how to use it - and you struggle with trying to make heads or tails as to how to create designs with it. If this sounds like your situation, help is right here. In this special, extended length seminar created for the beginning digitizer, you'll spend time with the head digitizer from one of the top digitizing firms in the US. This class does not focus on any particular digitizing system or brand of software. Instead, it focuses on what you didn't learn from the factory training - how designs should be created when you digitize. You will be learning the process of digitizing and the basic theories needed to begin a design. You'll cover topics from creating underlays - what type you need for specific jobs, and why you need them - to how to use the basic stitch types to your best advantage when creating jobs. You will digitize a design on paper as well as learn the fundamentals of lettering. Most importantly, you'll learn to avoid the pitfalls that make most people lose uncounted hours creating bad designs while trying to learn how to digitize.

Class size is limited to 25 participants to ensure individual attention to your questions. Admission to this class is NOT included in the full-workshop ticket.

Printing on Alternative Surfaces

     Audience: Screen Printers

It has been said that doing one thing and doing it well is the key to success in business. Unfortunately, if the shop down the street offers something that you don’t, it could spell disaster as customers leave for the convenience of getting all their work done in one place.

Many technologies have evolved and blurred the lines of what a shop defines itself as. By carefully scrutinizing a customer base and the surrounding demographics, it is possible to add a number of substrates to your repertoire of products that you imprint without having to spend a lot on equipment. In most cases, little or no money is spent to take on products that perhaps were not considered in the past.

This seminar will demonstrate that with a little ingenuity, it is possible to stay competitive and attract new clients and be the go-to shop in your area.
