       Audience: Screen Printers/Artists

Better designs sell a lot more shirts than lower prices ever will. If you've ever looked at a shirt that somebody else printed and wished you could create that, this is the full-day class for you. Here is the knowledge you need to bring your art into the twenty-first century.

We will discuss working with Vector Artwork, including information on what vector artwork is, how to create vector artwork, and how to add color and type to vector artwork to create a complete layout. We will work with Raster Artwork too, and we will include information on what raster artwork is, how to set up a raster file, how to scan artwork, change colors, how to remove flattened artwork from a background, and how to add type, use brushes, and layer styles. You also need to know how to work with Photographs, so we will include information on how to optimize an image, how to use photo frames, how to clean and adjust photos, create a photo edge, mask an image, and how to create sepia images. You'll also learn how to create one of the hottest looks today by using black and white images with accent colors.

Of course, the finest art in the world will do you no good if you can't put it on a shirt, so we'll cover artwork separations. You'll get real-world knowledge on creating a white base for vector artwork, types of registration, various types of separations (manual, index, process, spot color), and adding specialty inks to make designs really stand out. You'll see how to save a DCS 2.0 file and import it into a vector program to print out separations, create templates and registration marks, use halftones and RIP software.

Finally, if you ever wondered: "How'd They Do That?" We'll examine how to create the hottest art techniques & tricks. We will include information on how to create a textured effect on vector and raster artwork, how to add dimension to clip art, and how to create various layouts and looks from one piece of stock art. Once you've learned all this, just wait until you show your customers (and competitors) what you know how to do!
